In the tutorial below, I am installing Kodi on the T95Z Plus Android Box. Keep in mind that there are literally hundreds of Android Boxes available but the installation process outlined in the video below will be very similar for all models.
You may ask yourself why you would want to install Kodi on an Android Box? Once you install Kodi and the necessary 3rd party addons, you will be able to stream free movies, tv shows, live streams, sports, kids movies, you name it. The 3rd party Kodi addons scrape the Internet for these media files and then provide a nice user interface to view the various movies and tv shows.
As of now, Kodi 17.6 is the most stable release and the video tutorial below will show you how to install this version. You must have Android Operating System 5.0 or higher installed on your Android box in order to run Kodi 17.6. The video tutorial below will show you how to check which version is currently installed on your device.
Since most Android Boxes come pre-loaded with Google Play Store, installing Kodi is a breeze. All you will need is a free Google account that you can get by clicking here and you will be able to install Kodi directly from the app store and it won’t cost you a dime. Yes, that is correct, all of this is free!
This is not common but for those of you who don’t have Google Play App Store already installed on your Android TV Box, you can easily download the .apk file from here onto a usb flash drive, plug the drive into an available USB port on your box and install from that location with a file explorer on your device. Just like Google Play App Store, most Android Boxes also come with some sort of file explorer, which usually is identified by a folder icon.
Keep in mind that Kodi won’t do much without the popular 3rd party addons and make sure that you get my free guide below on how to Supercharge your Android TV Box. The guide will also show you how to setup a VPN on your Android Box so that you can stream with privacy and not worry about your Internet Service provider logging everything you are doing.
Steps
- Create a free Google account if you don’t already have one. Click here to get your account setup
- Check the Android Operating System version on your device and make sure that it is 5.0 or higher so you can install Kodi 17.6.
- Log into Google Play Store
- Search for Kodi
- Install Kodi by clicking icon and wait for application to install.
- Test Kodi by opening on Android Box.
Kodi users should always connect to a VPN to protect their identity and privacy while streaming. I use IPVanish on all of my streaming devices and I suggest that you do the same.
